ANTONIA JASTER

ACTRESS/THEATRE DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER/ THEATER AUTHOR/PRODUCER

Munich, Alemania 1971.

She has been studying theatre and dance since she was six years old in Germany (at the National Theater of Munich, amongst others) and in the United States.

At the age of 22, she began her professional career performing fundamental characters of universal theatre, as the lead actress (among other in “Casa de muñecas” by Henrik Ibsen (Nora Helmer). In “Woyzeck“ by Georg Büchner (Marie). “Maria Estudardo” by Friedrich Schiller) and at 24 years she started her second career as theatre director “ The Arsonists” by Max Frisch, „ Bürger Schippel“ by Carl Sternheim, etc..

Since 2000 she has lived in Tenerife and works in Spain and Germany as an actress, theatre director, author , radio presenter with more than 2000 programs.

She performed at the “Fritz Rémond” Theatre and at the “Internationales Theater” in Frankfurt Main, at the Berlin Academy of Sciences, at Potsdam, Goldkronach and Bayreuth , Germany, in Madrid and in Córdoba, Spain, Schaffhausen, Switzerland and several times in Paris, France. She has toured in the Canary Islands, Ecuador and Venezuela. She is the founder of the “Teatro Alemán y Bilingüe in Tenerife” and the theatre company “Jasteatro”.

Antonia is codirector of the company Jaster & Luis Creaciones. As a theatre director, she has directed many works over the years including “La Zapatera Prodigiosa” by Federico Lorca, “Die Nervensäge” by Francis Veber, “Nein im Gegenteil” by Anton Checov, at the “Die Färbe” Singen Theater in Germany.

For the International Festival of Street Art “Mueca” , Puerto de la Cruz, alongside the theatre company “La Pandilla” she has staged the works “Arsenic and Old Lace” by O. Kesselring, “The True Story of Romeo and Juliet” by A. Jaster, “Pervertiemientos and Other Useless Gestures” by José Sanchís Sinisterra,” No Hay Ladrón Que Por Bien No Venga “by Dario Fo,” The Divine Comedy “by A. Jaster and “At Your Service, Mr. Director” and “Katiuska” by Angel Camacho. “The Imaginary Invalid” by Moliere and “ One hour with Mr Valentin” in 2022.

She has also directed many works for the theater companies “Sol y Sombra”, “Troysteatro” and “El Paseadero”.

For the “Cit Puerto de la Cruz”“ within the “Agatha Christie International Festival” she showcased the play “The Patient” and adapted and directed Christie’s short novels “The man of the sea”, “The Red Signal” and “Swan Song”.

She has the artistic direction of the show “Wine & Sex at Bodegas Monje in the editions with the following themes: “Rococó”, “Pirate”, “London Stories”, “Frivolité”, “Alice”,  “80 days” and “Faust”.

Antonia has acted in various roles for film and television productions in Germany, Sweden, France and Spain, including: “El Escarabajo Verde” for RTVE in 2013;“Humboldt en el Teide”, directed by the filmmaker Javier Trueba and featuring the presentation and narration of palaeontologist Juan Luis Arsuaga in 2016. “Metropolis” for Arte TV in 2017, Germany / France; and “ “From the Port of Orotava to the Pico del Teide” for the Alexander von Humboldt Cultural Association, Tenerife in 2017, “Invitation au Voyage” for Arte TV in 2019, France/Germany.

She also works as a choreographer and highlighted her participation in the International Short Story Festival of Los Silos for many years.

Author of several plays (Editorial: Cantusverlag and editorial: Baile del sol) that are performed in Spain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Master of Ceremonies (language: English) of the 77th Annual Waza Conference (World Association of Zoos and Aquariums) October 2022, Hotel Botánico, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife and Master of Ceremonies (language: English and Spanish) at the 50 anniversary of Loro Parque December 17th, 2022., Loro Parque, Puerto de la Cruz.
