MANUEL LUIS
DIRECTOR / ACTOR / PLAYWRIGHT
Born in Venezuela in 1964. He currently lives in Tenerife, Canary Islands.
Among his stage appearances, these are the highlights:
“La conjuración de las palabras” by Benito Perez Galdos, “Melodías de recuerdos”, “La danza de la Sabina” and “Va el alma por pasar” by Cirilo Leal”, “El Despertar” by Franca Rame and Dario Fo and “Buscadores de sueños” by Ernesto Rodriguez Abad. “To wine or not to wine “ and “Amor de Circo” de Jaster & Luis Creaciones.
He is also the founder and director of the companies “Medio Almud Teatro” and “Jaster & Luis Creaciones”.
He has worked with the company Medio Almud Teatro on the educational project “Theater: Text and show” performing management and acting tasks.
With Jaster & Luis Creaciones he works in the “Creative Processes”, within the project “Theater in the School” of Cabildo de Tenerife with “Dancing the Little Prince”. He has participated as an actor and creator of different shows and interactions in the “MACEW Fashion Days” at the Institute of Hispanic Studies in Puerto de la Cruz, in several editions of “Plenilunio”, among others, for the “Museum of Man and Nature ”and for “La Sociedad de Desarrollo” of Santa Cruz.
Manuel Luis has interpreted characters from works by universal authors such as “D. Manolito” by Valle Inclán in “Los cuernos by D. Friolera”,” Alegoría de las letras ” by Benito Perez Galdós in “La conjuración de las palabras “,” La Gitana ” by Lope de Rueda in “El paso de la Gitana y Gargullo” and “Florentín” in the children’s work for environmental awareness “Flora and Florentín”.He plays on the theatrical routes “A place called Orotava” and “The magical village of La Orotava” interprets his roles in Spanish, German and English.
He has also worked for television productions nationally and internationally.
He participates in tours in Cuba, Germany, the Canary Islands, Paris, Venezuela and Ecuador and he has performed several years at the International Festival of the Story of Los Silos de Tenerife and the International Festival of “Agatha Christie” of Puerto de la Cruz.
As a playwright, he participates in the collective creation of the show “Matrimonio Probeta” by Medio Almud Teatro and has written “Mandraka”, “Oropel”, “Guañameñe” (Editorial Baile del Sol 1998). He co-authored, together with Antonia Jaster the works “Schehrezade and his Thousand and One Nights”, “A place called Orotava” and “The mysterious testament of Don Césare”, “Far West Stories”, “To wine or not to wine”, “Dance the little prince”…
