In this gripping one-person play, internationally experienced actress Antonia Jaster follows in the footsteps of the Berlin naturalist. Accompanied by atmospheric music and historical image projections, she reads, acts, and dances her way through Humboldt’s fascinating life.

Directed by Manuel Luis, the production blends rigorous science with subtle humor: Historically accurate, backed by collaboration with experts from the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the play sheds light on Humboldt’s years in Berlin and Paris, his famous journey to the Americas, his formative stay in Tenerife, and, last but not least, his expedition to Russia. A special highlight: each performance bridges the gap to the region where it is being performed, highlighting its very own connection to Alexander von Humboldt.
